Quality as a way of life.
design08 is the new creation of the designer Mark Braun. On behalf of Otto Hutt, with design 08 Mark Braun has developed a fountain pen that sets its own quality standards in terms of development, design, production and function. design08 embodies an attitude where expert craftsmanship and high-tech claim their place in our everyday culture, our way of life.
design08 is a play with proportions. The fine, regular guilloché lines characterize the entire ruthenium-coated surface. The guilloché pattern is rotated by 90° on the cap and on the rotatable, cylindrical finial. Thus serving as an indicator how to rotate for removing the cap and activating the innovative Pull+Twist function. The ingenious mechanical clip prominently exhibits the highest manufacturing precision that Otto Hutt puts into every part. The 18 ct gold nib and the individual number round off the exterior of design 08.
The styling of the section allows for sufficient grip for your fingers when writing. The section of the piston fountain pen is made of stainless steel, matt black and coated with PVD. The 18 ct gold nib is available in EF, F, M and B nib sizes. With its individual numbering, each design 08 fountain pen is truly unique. With the cap of design 08 closed, the individual number is in line with the back of the nib.
The cap is also cylindrical, with a concave top part. The mechanical clip is spring loaded with a steel spring, breaking through the recess on the top part. Cap and clip form a connection, as if the precision mechanics of the writing instrument were pushing outwards. Upon activation, the clip lowers into the recess on the top part.
Fill Instructions:
A careful short turn to the left will release the lock of the pump mechanism (click). Follow with a gentle twist and pull motion to the left to activate the pump mechanism. Once you have passed neutral position you will see about three millimeters of wide, unpatterned spacing.
Now turn the end of the shaft to the left. You will
meet with resistance once the top of the piston rests against the chamber below.
Dip the nib into the ink bottle. Turning the finial knob to the right will pull up the ink. A locking sound will indicate that the filling capacity has been reached.
Press and turn right to bring
the end of the shaft back into starting position. A final clockwise rotation will lock the pump mechanism (click).
